Travel News for Week of October 8

By October 8, 2017Blog

Hi Everyone,

If you’ve  travelled much at all, you know that there are certain things to be aware of, especially in the larger cities.    For instance, pickpocketing is rampant in some cities.     To avoid becoming a victim here are some precautions you can take.   Wear a money belt or security pouch under your clothes.   If you are carrying a purse, carry it across your body and make sure it is snapped and zipped up.   Do not set your purse down in a restaurant.   Keep it on your lap.   Most pickpockets are looking for easy victims so make it a little more difficult for them and they will most likely choose someone else.    Be careful in crowded places like airports or train stations where you have your hands full and may be distracted while  searching for directions.  Understand that pickpockets may not look like what you think.   Many of them are well dressed individuals.

If you do become a victim, hopefully you have taken the precautions that we have mentioned in other blogs  and have the 800 number for your credit cards.    If your phone has been taken, make sure you call your carrier and suspend your service.   File a police report.   Chances of getting anything back are remote but having that on file may help you with insurance or getting your passport replaced if that’s been taken.
