Travel News for the Week of October 30

By October 30, 2022Blog

Hi Everyone,

Airlines are not the only place where passengers take swings at one another.  We are starting to see that behavior on some cruise ships.  In the last month Carnival has had to impose a curfew on passengers under 21, and this week they put a limit on how much alcohol can be consumed for passengers with the popular onboard beverage packages.   Many cruise lines offer these prepaid packages that allow passengers to purchase a package of unlimited alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.  I suspect those causing the problem are not using their package for coffee, tea, or milkshakes.

Travel and Leisure reports that airfare rose 42.9% ifrom September 2021 to September 2022 and started to creep up again in September.  Experts predict holiday prices will reach the highest they’ve been in five years, especially over Christmas.  If you are traveling over the holidays, the sooner you get air, the better.

My favorite river cruise line, Uniworld, has added rail packages to their offerings.  These are luxury trains that you can take before or after your cruise.  Uniworld  has found partners for their Cruise & Rail journeys that bring the Uniworld standard of luxury to the private train experience. Both Golden Eagle Luxury Trains and the Maharajas’ Express are top-notch, with stylish design, excellent service and daily local excursions. And of course, it’s all-inclusive.

If you are a Delta Sky Miles member you will want to take a look at Delta’s new Sky Miles policy which will go into effect on January 1.  Some enhancements will benefit those in the upper tier of membership but it looks like it will be more difficult to get to that upper echelon of Sky Miles membership.
