Travel News for Week of November 24

Hi Everyone,

Pepsi or Coke?   Carnival Cruise Line is switching to Pepsi.    Beginning in January, the line will switch from Coca-Cola products to beverages from PepsiCo, In.   In a press release, the line stated that the new beverage offerings would encompass everything from Starbucks to a wide selection of iced teas, sparkling water coffee and sports drinks, juices, and soft drinks.   Pepsi branded products include Pure Leaf, Naked Juice, Gatorade, Mtn Dew, Starbucks, Sierra Mis, and Sierra Mist Zero Sugar, among others.

This past spring one of our groups had a flight delay of 24 hours in Europe.   In addition to feeding us and putting us up for the night, when we returned home we received significant compensation (in excess of $600).   While none of us were  happy about the delay, the extra compensation did lessen the sting, thanks to the EU 261 regulation.   This regulation insures passengers rights  for flight disruptions for flights that depart from or arrive in EU airports whether they are European Union planes are not.    The airlines must compensate passengers in case of overbooking, technical problems, and other factors deemed within its control.  However, if extraordinary circumstances lead to cancellation or delay, you are not entitled to compensation.  Poor weather conditions, civil unrest, security risks are not reasons for compensation.   Compensation is based on the flight distance and duration of the delay (less than 2 hours won’t get you any compensation).   This compensation does not happen automatically.  After you reach your destination, you must contact your airline to find out the process for the refund.

Walt Disney World is bringing  back their 4-Park Magic Ticket.  This is a great option if you are not staying on site at Disney World.  A four day, 4 park ticket includes 1 day at the Magic Kingdom, 1 day at Epcot, 1 day at Hollywood Studios, and 1 day at Animal Kingdom over a 7 day usage window. Clients who purchase the 4-Park Magic Ticket can also upgrade their ticket to include one admission to either Disney water park and one admission to the all-new NBA Experience at Disney Springs.  The 4-Park Magic Ticket is valid through Sept. 30, 2020.

As we move toward Black Friday, Cyber Monday, keep in mind that tour operators and cruise lines are having their own sales.   Now might be the time to look into your next trip!
