The United States Department of State has issued a Level 4″Do not Travel” advisory for Haiti which is beset by gang-related violence that includes periods of sustained gunfire. Several areas in the capital city of Port-au-Prince have been affected. It also includes areas around the airport, the seaport and the U.S. Embassy.
If you need to apply for or renew your passport, Delta Township Clerk’s office released their 2024 Passport Drives: April 11, May 6, June 4, July 10, August 15, September 9, October 8, November 13, December 12. The office will offer extended hours on these dates from 5-7pm. These evening hours are in addition to their normal daily hours. You must call for an appointment but it is great that the Township is willing to help guide people through the process.
More and more cities are charging a fees to either enter their cities or visit landmarks. Be prepared before you go as these are attempts to try to reduce overcrowding and are probably not going away. Venice charges day visitors entrance fee which they recommend purchasing online before you arrive. Seville, Spain will be charging a fee to experience the Plaza de Espana square in Seville. The Louvre art museum in Paris has raised ticket prices by almost a third, ahead of the Paris Olympics. There’s a new $13 charge for climbing Japan’s famous Mount Fuji which follows Japan’s 70% price hike for tourist rail pass.

May 12-22, 2024. Countryside of the Emerald Isle. If you have traveled to Ireland and loved it, this is part two. September, 2025. America’s National Parks. This is a repeat of one we’ve done before but it is one of my favorites. We will tour the Tetons, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion Canyons, and Mt. Rushmore among other places. Collette is not quite ready for Fall of 2025 but we are in the system.
